Join us on Friday evening for a Screen Walk from Nina Davies exploring TikTok screens and performances from #Sergina and vinacringe.
Screen Walk with Nina Davies
Nina Davies will invite the online and in-person audience into her ‘liked’ TikTok’s and share her hot takes on why some of this content is more insightful than it first seems. Nina will demonstrate how algorithms speak to us through memetic content as a sort of language. During this Screen Walk we will encounter such things as ads that adopt the aesthetics of conspiracy, feature length films that can be watched in 2 minutes, people taking drones for walks and of course… lots of dancing. This live event will become a performance of Nina’s ongoing project For An Imaginary Page.

Biographies
Nina Davies
Working primarily with video, performance, writing and installation, Nina Davies considers current dance phenomena in relation to the wider socio-technical environments from which they emerge. Previous research projects have included; the recent commodification of the dancing body on digital platforms and rethinking dances of today as traditional dances of the future. Oscillating between the use of fiction and non-fiction, her work helps build new critical frameworks for engaging with dance practices. Her work has recently been exhibited and shown at Transmediale, AdK, Berlin; Seventeen, London; Matt’s Gallery, Mattflix program; Circa x Dazed Class of 2022, Piccadilly Lights in London, Limes in Berlin, K-Pop Square in Seoul, Fed Square, Melbourne; Overmorrow House, Battle; and Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival, Hawick.
Elly Clarke
Elly Clarke is interested in the performance and burden (‘the drag’) of the physical body in a digitally mediated world, as well as what she is calling the ‘snapping-to-grid’ of templates. He explores this through performance, photography, music, curating, and #Sergina, multi-bodied drag queen who, across one body and several, performs online and offline about love, lust and loneliness in the mesh of hyper-dis/connection. In un/easy collaboration with this character, Elly is entering the final-ish stages of their PhD entitled 'Is My Body out of date? The drag of physicality in the digital age' and as an analogue photographer, has a penchant for archives. Earlier this year Clarke curated 'Dragging the Archive - a personal re:encouter with Franklin Furnace's cyber beginnings', which explored the first years of Franklin Furnace's face, after nearly 20 years of having a physical performance space in downtown Manhattan. In June, #Sergina dragged herself around the Bishopsgate Institute.
#Sergina
I am a self-sculpted c-celeb, waiting for my social media presence to take off. In my spare time I write songs about having my phone in my wallet, waiting to download and that kind of thing. Played (out) on different bodies, I appear in one place or many at once. I am waiting for my big break. But I don’t like waiting. I don’t like waiting for ice cream. I don’t like waiting for donuts. I compete with my own image and usually lose. Filters are fabulous. Over the viral years stuck at home/s, I expanded my horizons to offer relationship advice webinars and mug and fluffy inside laptop case production. I also danced for data which I am now offering up for sale, should you be interested.
